  • I started off as a yoga teacher turned health coach and that wasn’t quite enough for the love I had with working with people, so I went back to school and obtained my Masters in Nutrition. I am a Certified Nutrition Specialist (very similar to a Registered Dietitian but has a more integrative education) where I had to complete over 1,000 supervision hours, pass a license exam. So, it’s pretty legit. But I also love learning and always diving into new nutrition sciences and learning more therapeutic modalities to support our work together.

  • Currently, I am considered an out-of-network provider, but do provide clients with a superbill to submit to insurance for possible reimbursement. The best way to find out your coverage and reimbursement potential is to contact your insurance directly and ask what their policy is for out- of-network providers providing nutritional counseling services, specifically for the billing code CPT Code: S9470, Nutritional Counseling and ICD diagnosis code Z71.3, Dietary Counseling and Surveillance for general counseling services (unless you have Aetna, in which case the ICD diagnosis code used will be z72.4, Inappropriate diet and eating habits. I do not provide insurance and superbill support if your insurance rejects the Super Bill for reimbursement. It is your role, as the insured, to contact your insurance and determine which CPT and diagnosis codes they cover for reimbursement for nutritional support and share them with me. I will accommodate insurance reimbursement specific codes as long as I find them to be aligned with the work that we are doing together and truthful.

If you have Aetna, they are pretty strict with insurance coverage - here are the diagnosis codes that they support for nutritional counseling. http://www.aetna.com/cpb/medical/data/1_99/0049.html

  • This really depends! Most of my nondiet general nutrition counseling clients will see me for anywhere between 6-12 sessions with sessions every other week.

If you have an eating disorder, those are typically more frequent (weekly) and can be ongoing for 12-24 sessions (sometimes longer, depending on need!).

  • A lot of my clients refer to me as their food and body therapist. I go into Internal Family Systems, Attachment Based Nutritional Counseling to help my clients get beneath the surface and how your inner child and attachment style can influence your relationship with food and your body. I love educating my clients on nutrition in a neutral way so they leave empowered around food.
